Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre Hydrotherapy Pool Screw Piled Foundations

Our most recent success story has been on installing Screw Piles for the Hydrotherapy Pool project in Wellington via our Screw Pile installers Richardson Drilling Co Ltd that are Palmerston North based. The GCS engineers involved for the design were Kevin O’Connor & Associates Ltd.

The greatest challenge for this project was the fact that it was the first time that a triple helix Screw Pile of progressing diameters had been installed in Wellington. The client’s engineers BECA had to be convinced that our proprietary Screw Piles sourced via the United Kingdom were up to their expectation. Mission accomplished!

Although the piles were compact in size, their performance exceeded expectations! We are looking forward to our next Wellington project as a result of the final result.

" The Screw Piles were designed to resist the prescribed tension and compression loads, and then the design was confirmed following the installation and successful testing of test piles in accordance with AS3159 requirements. As structural engineers, we were very pleased with the performance of the Geologic Screw Pile system. "

New factory - 41 Kelvin Grove Road, Palmerston North

Kevin O'Connor & Associates Ltd (KOA) were recently engaged by Global Construction Solutions (GCS) to provide design and construction monitoring services for the screw piled foundations of the new $874 ,000 industrial building for Reese Agri at 41 Kelvin Grove Road , Palmerston North.

KOA carried out the design of the screw piles using the Geologic Screw Pile system commercialised by GCS. The design was technically challenging as it required consideration of soil liquefaction and anchoring into very hard layers of clay .

" The screw piles were designed to resist the prescribed tension and compression loads, and then the design was confirmed following the installation and successful testing of test piles in accordance with AS3159 requirements. As structural engineers, we were very pleased with the performance of the Geologic Screw Pile system."
